“… childhood sweethearts, me a lawyer who did not want to be and my husband Giuliano Di Paolo, an engineer with vast managerial experience, decided to work together on a project that has always been our passion.
In 1998, I started to work with my mother at Borgo delle Tovaglie, and then I took over the activity, a business that has been producing tablecloths in Bologna, situated in a charming sixteenth century building, in the ancient road of the weavers “Borgo delle Tovaglie”
In 2005, putting together our respective experiences, we decided to give the business a new impulse and expand the range of products to cover the entire context of the textile décor.
The main aim of our project is the continual research of products, using a new ways, even through diverse use of the textiles, to tell the world of the Italian poem, the expertise craftsmanship and of the particular care that has always been a unique characteristic of our country.
You notice evident traces of French stile in “Borgo delle Tovaglie” products as a consequence of my origins. A French mother and a great-grandfather famous architect of the “Cote Azur”, have influenced my tastes, creating an original mix of Italian and French stile.
It is not a coincidence that the laboratory of our ideas is an ancient country house in the hills of Bologna, where the rhythms of work and life mix with the rhythms of nature.
Today “Borgo delle Tovaglie” is globally widespread, boasting an international clientele consisting of the most beautiful shops in the decor sector, with which embrace a great collaboration of mutual satisfaction.

Valentina's great-grandfather, who was one of the major architects of the "Cote azur" and the mother of French origin who founded the brand Borgo delle Tovaglie, bequeathed to her the love for the decor. The head office in Bologna was established in Via delle Tovaglie, the historical street of weavers, located in the ancient centre of Bologna in a charming building dating back to the 1500s.
